A fan of Russell’s had a pleasant surprise while strolling around a famous museum of design in London recently – a Gordon Russell chair on display among all the other elegant pieces of furniture.
As our visitors and friends know, our restaurant occupies the space that was once the showroom of Gordon Russell, the pioneering post-war British designer.
The Geffrye Museum of the Home in Hoxton – http://www.geffrye-museum.org.uk – is well worth a visit. The rooms are set out exactly as they would have been going back through the ages to the beginning of the 17th century.
Of course, if you want the real low-down on Gordon Russell and his work, you can’t beat the Gordon Russell Design Museum here in Broadway – http://www.gordonrussellmuseum.org
And when you’ve enjoyed the period furniture and artworks by the great twentieth century designer, pop next door and enjoy a delicious meal at the restaurant-with-rooms named after him!
